Here's a piece of simple advice that turned my head. I found it on business strategist, Dave Lorenzo's blog, Career Intensity:
“If you chase two rabbits, both will escape.”
How many are you chasing? If you want to catch any of them, I recommend setting your sights on one.
Yes, Dave, yes. My smarty-pants faxing guru brother just told me the same thing...this is a topic I will be exploring over the next few posts.
For some reason, the rabbit visual works for me. I can imagine what trying to chase two rabbits actually feels like and that is NOT what I want to be doing. Wasting time, energy and creativity that could be more effectively dispensed.
Focus, determination and planning may sound boring and constrictive to the creative mind, but in reality, they are what sets you free. Free to realize your ideas and vision and goals and to express yourself in the way that brings you what you want: more joy, more free time, more abundance, deeper relationships, more leisure time...mmmmmmm.
Structure and discipline are actually the most essential and basic tools of freedom. Think about it...
Remember, I am on your team!
